- frequency range (-8dB): 32 - 25000 Hz
- crossover frequency(s): Hz
- speaker type: bass reflex

Hi-Spirit is a 3 way bass reflex floorstander by Thorsten Fischer (BPA). This speaker contains - like the Spirit 6 kit - a Tang Band tweeter 25-1719 and an Omnes Audio mids/woofer MW 6W. However, instead of two MW 6W just one is used. As compensation this imposing speaker was equipped with two Omnes Audio MW 8W woofers in a large, separate enclosure for powerful bass.

The bass is separated by the crossover with a 18 dB/oct. crossover, while the midrange is separated with 12 db/oct, and the high frequencies again with 18 dB/oct.

Interesting is the design of the 18 db/oct. circuitry containing in parallel to the 22 μF capacitor a 1 μF capacitor with 56 Ohm resistor in series. According to Thorsten Fischer, this increases the signal slope within the within the high frequency band.

An excerpt from the Klang+Ton review

... "The considerably larger diaphragm area compared e.g. with the Spirit 6 produces the appropriate effect: the Hi-Spirit reaches far lower and does this with such a relaxed authority that the sound may truly be called impressive. The bass is clean, neither brash nor too dry - just like real woofers of the old school. And obviously two 20 inch drivers in a large cabinet are quite capable in producing considerable dynamics - when the percussionist of an orchestra takes out his mallets the Hi-Spirit starts plying the hammer. In this respect it was a clever move, to use the Omnes MW 6W for midrange, a driver with dynamics that almost equal those of the MW SW . Due to the design similarities, the identical diaphragm material freed of bass, this 17 inch connects seamlessly to the powerful bass and in turn puts its foot down. On the other hand, the 17 inch is quite capable - with its lightweight paper cone, to go about it subtly and with sophistication, reminiscent of a good full range driver - that's how we like it. After listening tests it goes without saying that the impressive ceramic dome tweeter is the icing on the cake. The high frequencies are extremely realistic, detailed and refined and prove beyond doubt that this driver has got what it takes to succeed in an ambitious project. Despite the size and four drivers in three way design the Hi-Spirit shows a flawless three-dimensionality and tonality and confirms impressively that even with relatively little money upmarket larger projects can be accomplished."

Kit with high-end crossover

Our high-end version employs two Mundorf low-distortion copper foil coils in the signal path to the woofers, in the path to the midrange driver one copper foil coil. In the path to the tweeter a baked varnish coil is used. The E-CAPs in the path to the midrange driver are replaced by MKP capacitors, as well as the 150 μF E-CAP for woofer separation that is replace by an MKP capacitor with 150 uF.
