Bernd Timmermanns designed Hidden Sub, a subwoofer that may be hidden quite easily. It can be placed upright or on its side. The bass reflex tube may be bent or straight.

The subwoofer consists of two Tangband W8-740 (or W8-740P) working in opposite directions. Centered on the side of the cabinet is an opening with a tube where the sound escapes. Such a design is called band pass.

Both woofers may be connected in parallel resulting in an impedance of 2 Ohm. Needless to say, in this case an amplifier that is capable of 2 Ohm loads is required. If they are connected in series an 8 Ohm amplifier would be sufficient. A third solution would be using a two-channel amplifiers, one for each loudspeaker. For the second and third solution, however, different capacitors are required.

An excerpt from the Hobby HiFi review

"In conjunction with our Sphere Satellites as in 4/2010 the Hidden Sub entered into high performance mode. The small spheres also benefited from the Reckhorn electronics with its built-in high-pass filter. We experimented with the adjustable phase of the bass until the transition to the satellites was smooth. Then the result was amazing: the small spheres seemed to produce a mighty sound just by themselves. The five string double bass used by Renaud Garcia-Fons ("Oriental Bass", Enja) appeared to be physically present. This enormous instrument produced an abysmally deep bass, within one's reach and three-dimensional. The combination's dynamic ability was tested with Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and and passed with flying colors. And the O-Zone Percussion Group proved with "Jazz Variants" (Manger Test CD) that the heavy bass cones can also move and that the kick of the drums is just what the Hidden Sub was waiting for."
