Hypergraph TL by Bernd Timmermanns     as in Hobby HiFi 1/2007

Hypergraph TL aus Hobby HiFi 1/2007
Technical data:
- impedance: 8 Ohm
- rated SPL (2.83V/1m): 85 dB
- size (HxWxD): 106 x 21 x 38 cm
- frequency range (-3dB): 35-25 000 Hz
- crossover frequency: 1,65 kHz
- speaker type: transmission line
Bernd Timmermanns used the Hypergraph 130 TI bass driver by Expolinear and designed a new transmission line speaker around it. The Visaton KE 25 SC tweeter with ceramic diaphragm was chosen to look after the high frequencies.

The transducers are top notch as is the damping material that's easy to work with: several mats of Bitumex and felt (upon request cheaper material is also available), as well as polyester fleece.

Excerpt of the Hobby HiFi review:

... "Like almost no other speaker the Hypergraph TL is capable placing vocals and instruments spot-on. Not only centre but also the side events are positioned firmly in place. It becomes unmistakably clear should the recording engineer have placed the soloist off centre. That doesn't distract from musical enjoyment. The soloist is just a few centimetres to the left or right of the centre, that's all. It just becomes unusually clear. The Hypergraph doesn't possess the extreme forwardness of a D'Appolito design. There are one to two more metres of space between stage and listener. Regardless of that the stage depth is immaculate as is the width distinguishing precisely between instruments and the spaces between them. Great! This elegant transmission line not only sweeps the board with regard to three-dimensionality but also dynamics and displays quite a considerable ability to handle power, unusual for a 13 cm woofer. Regarding power handling the Hypergraph outshines the Debut (HOBBY HiFi 1/2005), in all other point they are equal. Low bass is particularly tight. The soft, powerful bass of some transmission line speakers is definitely lacking - somehow the bass is rather reminiscent of a top quality, not exactly small horn. The double bass played by Renaud Garcia-Fons on the Manger Test CD is so forceful, shows such realism in depicting the buzzing of the strings on the fingerboard and portrays this big instrument so lifelike that one assumes to listen to much bigger loudspeakers."

Our high-end kit

Since the drivers are of superior quality we also offer a matching crossover containing the following components (differing from the standard components as above):
- a 2.7 mH cfc12 copper foil coil for the bass driver
- a 1.0 mH cfc16 copper foil coil for the tweeter
- a 15 uF MCAP Supreme capacitors with extremely low loss
- a 5.6 uF MCAP Supreme Silver Oil capacitor for the tweeter

The components for the impedance correction remain unchanged since they will not improve on the sound quality.
