The three editors were totally free in choosing the drivers:
The three loudspeakers were then named after the initials of the originators.
The cabinet was not supposed to be rounded or curved but rather extremely solid and free of vibrations. For this 24 mm birch multiplex boards (for the front oak) were used where the baffle was decoupled by means of impact sound insulation (for laminate floors, available at hardware stores) and attached with stainless steel screws (see building instruction).
Excerpt of the review by Holger Barske in Klang+Ton 6/2007: ... "The tops were extremely silky, well balanced and without any trace of aggressiveness and fits the pragmatically correct sound reproduction of the woofer. The most conspicuous property is then the inconspicuousness. To sit down comfortably, put on a good recording and searching for high end sensations will certainly fail. The speaker integrates the music material perfectly and just makes music. The Mini HB is not as clinical and tuned for precision as the Mini CG. Maybe the sound is just slightly more diffused than the other two contestants, all in all this speaker shows probably the best balance. Without doubt it helps that the HB provides slightly more bass than the other two, resulting in a more grown-up sound that one wouldn't expect from a compact speaker. And the Mini HB doesn't turn on the charm that much when listening for a short while; but it really becomes interesting during longer listening sessions when the human ear shows the first signs of listening fatigue. Not here, that's a promise."
Please note: An HT40 (drain pipe from a building supplies store) is needed, but can be supplied upon request.
