Thomas Schmidt and Holger Barske entered a competition to find out who would build the best mini monitor. The result was published in Klang+Ton 6/2007 (Mini HB, TS and CG; none of them is available anymore).

Now Thomas Schmidt and Holger Barske decided to use the Scan-Speak Tweeter D2004/602000 and the mids 12M/4631 in a new project.
 

The crossover is very simple. Only 3 components (a capacitor and two coils) are used to an 18 dB/octave type.

  • Bass reflex tube HP35, 35x125 mm, black
  • PE sealing tape, 5x2 mm
  • 0,25x Damping Sonofil 100 x 35 cm for 20 litres
  • Binding Post PK31, gold plated (per pair, red and black)
  • Speaker cable 2x1.5 mm2, transparent
  • Pan screws 4x20 black, 8 pieces
  • Plan for DIY kit

  • ClarityCap ESA capacitor 2.2 μF / 630 Vdc
  • Mundorf air core coil L140, 0.33 mH/0.15 Ohm
  • Mundorf air core coil L140, 0.47 mH/0.19 Ohm

Important note: The port Streamline 30 is no longer available; therefore we deliver the post HP 35. The the cabinet cut-out diameter should be 49 mm instead of 34 mm.

Kit with high-end crossover

f you wish to employ a top crossover then our high end version is the right choice. All coils are Mundorf copper foil coils; the capacitor is a ClarityCap MR type of high quality:

  • ClarityCap MR capacitor 2.2 μF / 630 Vdc
  • Mundorf copper foil coil CFC14-0.33mH/0.13Ohm
  • Mundorf copper foil coil CFC14-0.47mH/0.15Ohm

Impedance correction
 If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).

  • Audaphon MKP CAP Superior 12 μF / 400 Vdc
  • Audaphon air core coil L7, 0.12 mH/0.29 Ohm
  • Metal-oxide resistor, 10W 4.7 Ohm (yellow-violet-gold)
