BritMon is a three way compact speaker.
BritMon is a bass-reflex cabinet loudspeaker with drivers of Wavecor .
The loudspeaker has a nominal impedance of 2 ohms. Since the impedance minimum of 2 ohms is above 10 kHz, it should not be a problem for most 4 ohm stable amplifiers to operate these loudspeakers. Below 6 kHz the impedance is at 8 ohms level.
The kit is delivered with the following drivers: - a Wavecor TW013WA01 tweeter - a Wavecor TW030WA12 mids driver - a Wavecor WF223BD02 woofer
The loudspeaker has been developed by Thomas Schmidt.
The crossover consists of: - a 2nd order high-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter. - a band pass consisting of a 2nd order high pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) and a 2nd order low-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the mids. - a 2nd order low-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the woofer.
The frequency response of this speaker is perfectly linear.
The decay spectrum is perfect.
At low volume, i.e. 85 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are below 0,4% above 300 Hz and doesn't exceed 0,5% at 95 dB at 1 m between 300 and 15000 Hz.
"Despite all measurements: The Performance in the listening room is the crucial part. And here, the BritMon actually manages to reproduce the wonderful elegance of the old BC-1 with a little more neutrality and stability in the bass. I would say that in the mid-high frequency range, the two loudspeakers take up almost nothing - in terms of universal applicability, the more modern speaker is clearly ahead in terms of level and bass quality. One or the other might lack the cozy warmth of the slightly thickened Spendor bass, but when the fat basses of Fat Freddy´s Drop or Portishead are in demand, one is really happy about the correct reflex tuning. For my part, however, I am particularly enthusiastic about how well the two domes manage the charm of the Spendor-Box and generate at least as good the omnidirectional behavior and neutrality, which generate a perfect result in all listening rooms. We have a winner!"
"The BritMon is a loudspeaker that successfully emulates its idol and even surpasses it in some points."

Kit without cabinet, price per speaker EUR 546,00 excl. VAT: € 458.82 / $ 486.35
The high-end kit is delivered with baked varnish air core coils on important parts of the crossover for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered. The capacitor for the Wavecor TW013WA01 is of type polypropylen (MKP) Clarity-Cap CSA 630 V.
Kit with high-end-crossover without cabinet, price per speaker EUR 604,00 excl. VAT: € 507.56 / $ 538.02
If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).
Price per impedance correction for one speaker, to be mounted on a small wooden board. EUR 20,40 excl. VAT: € 17.14 / $ 18.17
If you prefer to mount the crossover components on a universal PCB instead on wood PCB 220x155 mm, order no. I-8805002, price per unit: EUR 11,80 excl. VAT: € 9.92 / $ 10.51 We recommend one board per kit (2 boards per speaker pair)
