The Pipe SIX is a transmission line; the base only improves on looks and may be omitted.
The crossover consists of one 3rd order filter for the bass driver and one for the tweeter. This is, therefore, a full 18dB/octave crossover.
Excerpt from the review in Klang+Ton 4/2008 (using Pink Floyd's "The Wall"): ... "The Tang Band feels totally at home reproducing the lavish passages, opens up an extremely wide stage and allocates pin-point accuracy and depth to more complex arrangements. Quite impressive, above all, is how much air the reasonable 17 inch backed by the pipe is capable to push forward: the bass is rumbling, full and forceful without a hint of booming. The mids are rather soft and warm, pampering the vocals with lots of body and determination, while the tops are rather elegant, dealing with attention to detail and precision in an absolutely relaxed way and never trying to push themselves to the fore. Without a doubt, the Pipe works also well when reproducing small ensembles - showing quite some confidence, not only in using a paint roller but also a small brush in depicting music. The performance is so relaxed that the speakers disappear behind the music and the musicians, but is controlled enough to ensure an exact overall view over all and even the finest details. This is absolutely first-class and irrespective of price." ...
