The Platino TL is transmission line speaker with Seas drivers; Bernd Timmermanns chose the Seas TFF/W dome tweeter and the Seas L26RN-SL bass driver.

The cabinet may be built with MDF boards; alternatively, if you wish you may ask Valeria Naturstein GmbH, near Cologne (www.natursteinnet.de) to have a granite cabinet built for you.

Excerpt from the review in Hobby HiFi 4/2008

... "The first movement of Haydn's Symphony No. 67 performed by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra (track 6 on the Manger CD), displayed a well balanced and complete picture rarely experienced every day. The strings were soft and tight at the same time, placed on a wide and deep stage and were easy to locate and differentiate. The setting was as natural as in a concert hall. Track 7 with Olga Borodina's soprano in Stravinsky's Pulcinella, Tarantella: this electrifying voice was as real as if she was standing in our listening room. We continued with Renaud Garcia-Fons' picked double bass. This is without any doubt the forte of the transmission line design and the Platino performed marvellously. This big instrument performing in life-size in our listening room sounded pitch-dark and ultra low. Even at the original recording level the double bass sound was just perfect and the drivers never touched their dynamic limits. Finally some rhythm as performed so well by O-Zone percussion Group, showed an excellent impulse processing ability as well as attention to detail, even at higher volumes, demonstrating the surprising power handling of the Platino TL. With these loudspeakers it's an absolute pleasure to listen to music, without having the itch to crank up the volume."

Platino TL with high-grade components

In accordance with the recommendation by Hobby HiFi we also supply a high-end version. In accordance with the recommendation by Hobby HiFi we also supply a high-end version. This version contains a Tritec/Hepta coil in the bass driver's signal path, otherwise baked varnish coils and Audyn CAP resp. Reference capacitors:

Impedance correction for Platino TL

The impedance correction is only needed when a valve amp is driving the speakers.

The impedance correction consists of:
- 10 Ohm ceramic resistor, 20W
- 22 μF ELCO, non-etched
- 0.33 mH air core coil/0.7 mm

This impedance correction is also adequate for the high-end version; upon request, however, we'll also supply better quality components.
