Vision BS is a compact 3 way monitor that employs a 20 mm dome tweeter Visaton G20SC, a mid-/fullrange chassis Visaton B80 and a woofer Visaton TIW 200 XS. This box has been developed by Bernd Timmermanns.

The crossover consists of a 2rd order high-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter, a bandpass filter (12 dB high- and 6 dB lowpass) for the two mids. The woofer is connected to a 2nd order low-pass filter.

Between 50 Hz and 17 kHz, the frequency response of this loudspeaker is nearly flat on axis. An elevation in the frequency characteristics occurs at 20000 Hz; this should not disturb. The decay spectrum is nearly perfect. At low volume, i.e. 90 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are lower than 0,5% above 200 Hz.

Kit with high-end crossover

The high-end kit is delivered with an baked varnish I-core coil instead of an H-core coil for the woofer. In the filter for the tweeter the capacitors are Evo silver/gold/oil capacitors. Most inductances are baked varnished coils for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered.

Impedance correction

If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).
