BK83-SOL is a floorstanding loudspeaker with a full range driver.

BK83-SOL is a horn loudspeaker with drivers of Fostex .

The kit is available with three different Fostex full range drivers:

The kit is delivered with a Fostex FE 83 SOL fullrange driver driver

The loudspeaker has been developed by Bernd Timmermanns.

The crossover consists of two notch filters to reduce the loudness in the mid and highrange.

The frequency response is not flat but in total nearly linear. The decay spectrum as shown in the waterfall diagram show resonances at 2 kHz. Elsewhere it is free of disturbing resonances. At a volume of 90 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are lower than 2% above 300 Hz.

Kit with high-end crossover

The high-end kit is delivered with baked varnish air core coils on important parts of the crossover for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered. The capacitors for the fullrange driver are of type polypropylen (MKP) Mundorf EVO Oil.
