Illuminata 18BE/RD is a small floorstanding high-end speaker that employs a Scan-Speak 18WU8741T00 woofer. It has been developed in three different variants. The variants have different tweeters of Scan Speak. Please choose between:

The speaker is built in GHP technology (closed, with high pass filter).
The crossover consists of a 3rd order high-pass filter (18 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter. The woofer is connected to a 2nd order low-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) with two parallel RCL to smoothen the frequency response. In series to the woofer is a high-pass capacitor.
Between 50 Hz and 40 kHz, the frequency response of this loudspeaker is very linear on axis. The decay spectrum is perfect. At low volume, i.e. 90 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are mostly below 0.25% above 300 Hz.

The high-end kit comes with Mundorf EVO Silver Gold Oil capacitors in series to the tweeter. The inductances are mostly baked varnish coils. In series to the woofer is a Mundorf CFC copper foil coil; both for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered.

If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).
